Moorings
The Moorings took shape in 1957, when developer Milton Link, backed by Cuban sugar magnate Julio Lobo, transformed 300 acres of mangrove and marsh into one of the city’s first planned waterfront communities; later expanding to over 1,000 acres. It was a bold vision for its time, introducing a private beach, golf course, and voluntary homeowners association by the late 1960s, setting a new benchmark for coastal living in Southwest Florida. Today, the 1,300-acre neighborhood is home to roughly 3,800 residences, from preserved old-florida style cottages, gulf-front condominiums, to contemporary custom-built estates, many with private docks offering direct Gulf access through Doctors Pass. Streets wind beneath canopies of mature trees, and homes are oriented to capture both water and sky, whether along open bayfront, or interior lots. At the center of it all is the private Moorings Beach Park, exclusive to residents of the Moorings only. A private stretch of sand with tiki huts, picnic areas, and reserved parking. Perfectly placed between Old Naples and Park Shore, The Moorings offers easy access to Venetian Bay, 5th Avenue South, and the city’s premier dining, shopping, and cultural venues. The history, location, and waterfront access have made it not just a neighborhood, but one of Naples’ most enduring symbols of coastal lifestyle.
